Spinning Forward

When sassymonkey Chattered/Tweeted about Spinning Forward all I did was look at the cover, see the pretty yarn and reserve it at the library. I didn’t look to see what it was about.

When I picked it up on Thursday I realized it was about a woman who opened a yarn store in Cedar Key… and I really did almost cry.

I miss my LYS and my LYSOs. I miss Florida. I miss Cedar Key.

The book itself was nice enough. Not an award winner but a nice story about a woman finding herself. I wouldn’t have liked it nearly as much if it hadn’t been set in Cedar Key and if I didn’t have such great LYSO friends.

  1. You made me smile and get teary-eyed all at the same time! I’ll try to get a couple of copies of this to carry at the shop. Oh wait, if the author lives in Cedar Key, maybe we should shoot for a book signing. Why doesn’t she shop here?! 😉

  2. Hello Sharon from Cedar Key……..and yes, I’m the author of SPINNING FORWARD.
I got a google alert on the post above and here I am. The reason I don’t shop at your shop is…..I never knew it existed until just now! I had been to Gainesville once four years ago when I moved here to another yarn shop and can’t remember the name of it. Because of the one hour drive each way from Cedar Key, I order all of my yarn via the Internet, unless I happen to be out and about and then I stock up.
I just returned tonight from a book tour through Georgia and Huntsville, Alabama. Spoke and signed at a yarn shop there and walked out with a bag of new yarn….finished a scarf today on the ride back to Cedar Key.
I’d be more than happy to get in to visit your shop and either do a book signing there or just sign copies of my book in stock.
I’ve left my email, etc. above and do look forward to hearing from you!
    Best to you,
    Terri

  3. Thanks so much for your response, Terri! Let me talk to my business partners and we’ll drop you a line about coming to visit. I think that would be great!

Thanks, Denise, for setting us up!
    Cheers all,

  4. Terri- you have been missing the really fabulous Gainesville Yarn Shop.

Of course, we moved to Illinois and miss it and miss driving out to Cedar Key for shaking off a bad day.
