Cupcake Toppers

Tomorrow is Fancy Rat Day. In honor of the great event, I’ve vowed not to make any disparaging comments about the rat who lives in our bedroom and I’ve decided we’re having rat cupcakes today. Joy! Rapture – or is that Rature? Heh.

Marzipan rats are best. You can get pink mice if you prefer.

Lots happening at work today, least of which are the performance appraisals that are due today which can’t be done today because, well, because they just can’t. Or maybe they can but just not in the way we normally do them. Also, there are the metrics that can’t be done this week, well they could be done but, well, they just can’t be – not in the way they are usually done.

So, in honor of all of the things at work that need to be done, but can’t be done, but might possibly get done anyway…. cupcakes all around! Cupcakes with miniature laptops or a miniature mouse! Your choice! I hope your workday is going as well as mine is! heh.

So, Nuthinfancy is addicted to routine. More specifically, she is addicted to the routine of cupcake toppers on Friday. Well heaven forbid I screw with her routine! Since I was in the process of reserving a hotel room in a prison when she emailed me to gripe about the lack of cupcake toppers, might I suggest miniature ball and chains? Or better yet, get your own prison hotel room and act out some hot cop fantasies with these miniature handcuffs topping your cupcakes.

Every year, Michelle gets another season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD. I think this year was the 4th or maybe just the 3rd, I don’t remember. Anyway, in honor of Buffy, order these nifty mini Buffy characters for your next cupcake topper needs. I know, they’re a little expensive but your party-goers are worth it, aren’t they?

Who knew it was so tough to find grinch figures? Must be a run on faking the joy this year. You can get a 3 piece set w/Max here (of course they have the more traditional Christmas and Hanukkah cupcake toppers too, for you normal people). You might get lucky and track down enough of these Grinch nerds dispensers or maybe you can pick up a few packages of Grinch Trading Cards and call it a day. Happy whatever errr Holidays to all of you Whos down in Whoville!

Today was the last day of school for the little kids. It was also Egypt day for E. In honor of the big event, why not buy crystal pyramids to put on top of your cupcakes? Or pyramid puzzles which don’t look very Egyptian but would still work. I like these metal figures better though.

Gingerbread House Day is December 12th so track down some miniature gingerbread buttons or scrapbooking embellishments or beads and top your cupcakes with those. Or bake some mini gingerbread people and stand them up on your cupcakes.

It’s National Cookie Cutter Week! Either use miniature tin cookie cutters as a stencil and sprinkle colored sugar on top of your cupcakes or just grab some mini bright colored plastic cookie cutters (or clay cutters) and place them on top of your cupcakes. Either way, very cute and very easy and very very inexpensive.

It’s Prince J’s birthday weekend so it’s time for some Prince J style cupcakes. Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate topped with these mini Heroscape game pieces would be excellent. The only problem is choosing which ones to top the cupcakes with.

In honor of World Toilet Day (Sunday) and the World Toilet Expo, we should all make some toilet topped cupcakes, shouldn’t we?! Yes we certainly should. Particularly if you are like me and have a photo collection of toilets from around the world. Or if you are like TW who spends more time in the bathroom than most. World Toilet Day cupcakes are totally in order!

If you’re serious about your toilet cupcakes, then Ruby Lane has some nice vintage items that could be used. Expensive but nice collectibles, if you’re into toilet collectibles. On ebay you can track down lots of different types of “bathroom sets” – a wood look, (or you can just go to oakridge and grab the toilet only). I prefer porcelain.
