Cupcake Toppers

Happy Veteran’s Day. Military cupcake toppers, there are oh so many options to choose from. You could go with the classic little green men (I can’t wait to see the search hits from that phrase!) or miniature tanks or planes or ships. Do you know anyone with an abundance of military coins they might be willing to part with? Incredibly expensive to buy on ebay and you probably won’t find anyone willing to give theirs up, but what a fantastic cupcake topper.

Again with the Daily Dose thing. Whatever. It’s Friday so that means cupcake toppers. It’s November so that means time to vote! You can top your cupcakes with campaign buttons, your local candidates would probably be glad to hand you a dozen. Or you can grab some donkey or elephant buttons from cafe press, if you like.

Happy Birthday, RJ. Unfortunately RJ is too grown up for cupcakes this year so no real life photos. If she was not too grown up for cupcakes, I’d have probably gone with some of these miniature birds.

In honor of our library’s Friends of the Library Sale, let’s top our cupcakes with miniature books. You can go all out and grab some special, miniature books – they’re expensive but very cool. You could get the Harry Potters or the Tolkein books, if you are having one of those themed paries. If you aren’t picky, you can get a “library assortment” (16 assorted for $24). Thankfully, there are inexpensive dollhouse miniature books that would work just fine.

Good grief, it really is Friday the 13th. I lost my entire cupcake topper post just a minute ago – talk about bad luck! So let’s try again, fingers crossed and rabbits foot out…

In honor of Friday the 13th, I’m pulling out the spooky stuff a bit early. If you hurry, you can grab some Boo & Eeek cupcake picks on ebay. Black cats, skulls and bats would also be very appropriate. I’ve been searching for miniature hockey masks but so far no luck – I thought for sure I could find a hockey mask/Friday the 13th keychain but alas… no luck. I found stickers (and some great Pinhead stuff, I am a Pinhead fan) and there are Jason Lives buttons that you could use. Oh, check these Friday the 13th buttons – a little big but they’d work.

Be careful out there today, bad stuff happens.

It is MY birthday weekend so we’re going to have cupcake toppers appropriate for ME and only for ME. First – you should just skip the cupcakes and the toppers because I don’t really like cupcakes and what’s a topper without a cupcake? But if you can’t skip the cupcake then you should definitely skip the icing. Seriously. Yuk. Then, you could order a smiely party pack from Oriental Trading and plop some smiely paraphanalia on the cupcakes. Or you could order any number of flamingo items and that would be fine too. Better yet, drive over to Starbucks and grab some chocolate covered espresso beans and sprinkle those all over the cupcake. That would be most excellent.

Happy Roller Skating Month! Yea roller skating! Maybe my ankle will miraculously heal and I can go skating to celebrate! Probably not. So you can just make roller skating cupcakes for me instead, how’s that? OK fine, just make them for the next roller skating birthday party you throw and if you have kids, you know you’ll be throwing at least one of those parties in your lifetime. You can’t beat these Roller Skate Charms at $17 per dozen, including shipping!

It’s elephant day. (Someone remind me to call Jenn later and wish her a happy one – she is an elephant collector.) Apparently people have found it difficult to find elephant cupcake toppers and ideas for elephant themed parties. Seems odd to me, I can come up with a half dozen ideas but that might be due to Jenn’s elephant fixation. I’ve had 23 years to ponder elephants.

Here you can order jungle animal and zoo animal assortments. How about foam elephants and as seen in this picture, (my kids’ fave), the like glass! plastic elephant (US Toys has a lot of elephants in jungle sets, animal sets etc… just search for elephant, you’ll see!).

The Saggy Baggy Elephant has made a bit of a comeback and you may be able to find the miniature storybooks (they’re about 3″ tall”) to lay on top of cupcakes. (Particularly good if you have a child who isn’t a huge fan of icing.) If you look now, you might be able to order the Golden Book game and use the game tokens and cards as cupcake toppers.

Sweetney! errr sorry, Pirates! In honor of the truly weird and incredibly popular Talk Like a Pirate Day (which as everybody knows is September 19th) you should all make pirate cupcakes. Forget about the wordpress comment plugin that will make all of your comments appear in pirate verbiage. Cupcakes are better. Quieter too.

There are oh so many piratey options for cupcakes, it’s hard to choose. You’ve got miniature pirates, miniature pirate ships, treasure chests, Pirates of the Caribbean picks (Johnny Depp on a cupcake, yummy!) Glow in the Dark Skull & Crossbone rings would be good.

Why don’t you grab some candy bandaids and decorate your cupcakes with those? Buy one box per child or guest and pass the boxes out as party favors too. There are Chocolate Bandaids, Gummi Bandaids and those interesting OUCH Bandaids.
