Cupcake Toppers

The decision for today’s cupcake topper was one of the easiest so far. We’re in Miami at the Sunshine State Games. RJ is a synchronized swimmer. Her solo is performed to “Rubber Duckie” (you moms can start humming now) and her swimsuit has yellow duckies on it. I’m sure there are lots of people looking for cupcake topper ideas for rubber duckie loving kids (and grown-ups). Just go with mini rubber duckies or better yet rubber duck key chains (10 year olds love key cains). They’re 2″ or so, a little big for cupcakes, but still do-able. Kids will smile. And they will squeak the heck out of these things. If you hum the rubber duckie song loud enough, they’ll squeak along with the song. It will be fun. Trust me.

Today is Little Dude’s birthday so our cupcake topper ideas are especially for him. The easiest and most obvious toppers would be Battlestar Galactica (stick a trading card in each cupcake?) or Star Wars (top each cupcake with a miniature?) oriented. I’m thinking he deserves something extra special though – how about Target Bullseyes instead?

We could print the Target logo on cardstock and put one on each cupcake? Or better yet, how about grabbing a bunch of white poker chips and painting the Target bullseye on there? I think they’d be a hit!

In honor of our weekend plans, today’s cupcake toppers follow the cowboy or cowgirl theme! (I obviously prefer the cowgirls but whatever your needs…) Cute little plastic cowboy hats! Or how about tiny felt hats? If those won’t work, then click in and try boots or little guitars or line dancers…

Mother’s Day weekend has arrived and that means small children everywhere are putting the final touches on the perfect Mother’s Day gift. In celebration of kids crafts, here’s a clip-art cupcake topper idea from Martha Stewart. Cheap and easy. Use Martha’s designs or better yet – let your child draw the design, scan and print.

In honor of Mir and Chickadee, this week’s installment of cupcake topper goodness kung fu fun, in a plastic bubble! Several search results indicated I could find both male and female martial arts toppers but upon click-thru I discovered a shortage of the female variety. Interesting. Lure us in with the promise of girls and then provide us only boys. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

It looks like these little plastic bubble karate kids come in both genders and are cuter than the generic kung fu figure anyway.

Next up in my quest to assist those in need of cupcake toppers … Flamingo Cupcake Picks! I am sure you all agree that flamingos are the perfect bird and the perfect cupcake topper but just in case you have a child who is fixated on some other lesser animal or bird or whatever you can probably find the right picks on this site. At a couple dollars a dozen, it’s hard to go wrong – at least until a pack of 5 year old dinosaur loving kids pull out their dino picks and stab each other, or their siblings with them. But hey, at least the cupcakes will be cute, right?

I wrote a couple of posts last summer, in August to be exact, about searching for cupcake toppers and about a dog eating our cupcake toppers. Since those two blog posts I have gotten ever increasing search traffic from people searching for the phrase “cupcake toppers”. People search for some really interesting and unusual “cupcake toppers”, did you know that?

In an effort to assist people in their search, I’m going to start sharing some fun “cupcake toppers”. Hopefully this will help people find what they need, or what their 3 year old neeeeeeeds, for their cupcakes. And hopefully once they find the perfect “cupcake toppers”, their dog won’t eat them.

The first “cupcake topper” idea I’ll share is the one I actually posted about last August. Mini Flocked Animals – careful, cocker spaniels like eating these. By the dozen. We used the monkey, the penguin and the gorilla shown on this page – surf around the site, there are more to choose from (and we did – we ended up with six different animals – the dog preferred the monkeys).
