Oh man, I just finished Fang Chronicles: Emily’s Story and I’m (again) dying for the next book. Emily is AWESOME – even better than Amy, I think. And I cannot wait to find out more about the cats – and Zenya.

I tried to read Fang Chronicles: Amy’s Story while I was in Hawaii but I couldn’t because I had loaned it to RJ and it hadn’t been returned to my Amazon shelf yet. After I got home, it was returned so I could start reading it. Darn if I’ll ever do that again – the story was terrific, not the normal vampire romance.
One of the unusual things that I didn’t mention in that post over on BlogHer was that the story did not end where/when I thought it would.
I don’t know if it’s a symptom of reading on my iPhone via the Kindle App but I was very surprised.
You know how you’re reading a book, in a genre you’ve often read, and you begin to guess at what’s going to happen – and you expect the story to end shortly after X happens? If you’re reading a print book, you get that feeling even more if you’re close to the end – with the Kindle, I never really know where I am in the book so I was very surprised when X happened, to Amy, and the book did not end.
And then I figured ok, the book will end when X happens to Victoria but guess what – the story did not end there, either.
I guess if I’d been reading a print version, I might have been a little less surprised. Maybe? Even so – those were two key things that could have triggered the end of the book but neither did.
THAT was cool. Totally unexpected ending.

I downloaded Bad Luck Officer and couldn’t put it down. I do love a good self-published book by an awesome BlogHer member – and I have a thing for hot cops, lol.
Remember back in October when I read Redemption during the Readathon? Well I finished book two in the series a few days ago – I wrote about Ransom over on BlogHer. If you’re interested in demons and angels and gargoyles and witches and YA fiction, click over there and read my post. J
When I heard Jennster had self-published a YA book, I put it on my list of books to read (once I caught up with my TBR list) because I love Jennster. She’s fun and she’s funny and I’m a big believer in supporting BlogHer peeps – I never did get caught up on my TBR list but I did buy her book. And I did finally, after months and months, read it.
In Dreams was not like any other YA fantasy chick lit I’ve ever read. Really. Totally unusual plot – particularly toward the end. I mean it’s not a surprise for girls to fall for “dream boys” but… well… this dream boy was really a DREAM boy who was also real. Sort of. It’s complicated but also easy, once Kat figures out who he is. Of course that’s also when the drama begins.
The book needs an edit, like almost every self-published book I’ve ever read, but it was a quick, easy read … and Jennster is totally awesome.
*Update: I just noticed there appears to be an edited-this-year version (and I’ve had my copy for a very long time — so yay for edits!)

I finally finished Redemption. Finally. Lord that was long – and really, it’s the only complaint I have about this book. It was just a wee bit too long the beginning should have been edited a bit. I think the lead was just a little to long. Otherwise – interesting story – demons, angels, wiccans, gargoyles. Who doesn’t love that?
I will be interested to see what happens after the flying carpet and the ring of Solomon. See – how awesome is that?
