Daily Dose of Holidays – Pig Day

Happy Pig Day!

That’s right – Pig Day.  I haven’t thrown a decent Pig Party in YEARS which is a shame because my Pig Parties use to be legendary.  Pig recipes, pig poetry, pig movies and TV and books, pig games and pig drawings.

Click the Pig to draw yours!

Wanna celebrate Pig Day?  Post a comment about your favorite pig, your favorite pork recipe or your favorite pig poetry if you like.  Or better yet, post your own Pig Day blog entry (just let me know if you do, so I can come and visit).  **Edited to add a link to my friends in Indiana celebrating Pig Day with a photo of 4H kids and pig showing and Michelle talks about Boris**

Oh and one other thing – now when I think about pigs, I think about my blog friend Fat Blogger because he had a cute little piggy image on his blog.  He went fishing and is due back any time now – so stop by and welcome him home.

  1. We used to have two pigs along with our goats, chicken ect when we lived in Apple Valley CA. Loved them, but when they got out of the pen they were demons to catch.

    Happy Pig Day!

  2. Not very original but my favorite pig would have to be Wilbur from Charlotte’s Web. A client in my previous career lifetime has a Vietnamese Potbelly Pig that she shares her home with, he even has his own credit card.

  3. Katie – how can a pig have his own credit card? Can you explain that?

Gam – I am not sure that I knew you had pigs at one time. I would not ever want to try and catch a loose pig. Seems worse than catching Jake when he slips out the front door.

  4. I hear pigs make for great pets…although i’ve never had one. I have on the other hand, shhh…eaten several. I’ve probably eaten a pigs weight in bacon alone, cause it’s my favorite.

    I suddenly feel like a canabal…sigh.

  5. Tsk Tsk Suzanne, you’ve eaten pigs? I’ve never heard of such a thing!

Have a BLT in celebration of Pig Day, just don’t eat it around me. I can’t handle the smell of bacon very well.

  6. Re the pig with the credit card….these were eccentric wealthy people, if I remember right she told us they’d “given” the pig his own phone number, heck he had his own room. So probably because he was listed in the phone book….wish I could remember his name. Of course she could have been pulling our legs, but this is the lady who gardened in the nude, so ya never know.

  7. Gardening in the nude is not weird. Pigs with credit cards and phone bills, that’s weird.

Then again, wait til I tell you the latest story about my sister. Talk about weird people.

  8. How can this be? How can there be a holiday I don’t know about, Pig Day no less! I need to know more!
