Daily Dose of Carnival – UU Style

The very first UU Carnival is live! Peacebang’s “God Talk” posts were terrific, the comments very good and now I can go and track down the responses a lot more quickly and easily because they’re right here in the Carnival! (Insert Deity) Bless the Carnival! Heh.

I am interested in this:

“Unitarian Universalism is my faith community” but not his religion. He makes a distinction between the two and explains the nuances of his position in more depth. Go check it out along with the commentarial “amens!” following the post.

I missed that somehow, and it makes an awful lot of sense to me. I don’t usually say “Amen!” but I’m tempted this morning.

Go read through the carnival yourself, and consider submitting to CC for the next one – umm submitting to CC? You know what I meant, right?

  1. Interesting reading… but how about your own held close thoughts?

You know my beliefs, but while you post on this frequently, I’m not at all sure of what you believe, deep down inside. Yes, it’s likely I missed it or wasn’t paying attention or whatever, so I’m asking… if you are willing to share.

  2. If you aren’t sure of what I believe then it’s because you’ve skimmed or you have read things I’ve written and decided there was something else I was withholding or must be something more that I’m not saying.

I don’t have any interest in writing a “this is what I believe” post right now. Spirituality isn’t something I write on command about. It just doesn’t work for me, probably because I don’t have a clear spiritual feeling, belief or path.

Besides, the only truly important thing anyone needs to know about me and spirituality is that it’s all good. All spirituality, all religion and all beliefs – all are valuable.

  3. Ummm no, RE. Our minds are nowhere near the same when it comes to religion. Unless you’ve had some drastic change come over, which I haven’t seen.

You think we share similar views but when it comes down to it, I don’t think so.

  4. lmao… not on a micro, what I believe level, surely not… but in relation to this: “Besides, the only truly important thing anyone needs to know about me and spirituality is that it’s all good. All spirituality, all religion and all beliefs – all are valuable…” absolutely. We both don’t share easily. We both definitely carry a belief system. We both respect others belief systems. Oh, I get pissy about my former religion shutting out women, but they will eventually come around, and I get pissy about dumping on gays, but those religions also will come around… but their belief in their god? No issues there whatsoever. I spent time on a blog found through blogher that was busily trashing Islam as of one mind, out to destroy the west. They weren’t very happy with my defence.
