I liked Dinner With Anna Karenina better than the other books about book clubs that I’ve read. I liked the women better and I liked the books they chose better. Nice chick lit. I’m glad I read it.

I’ve read three in the last year: The Book Club by Mary Alice Monroe; The Reading Group by Elizabeth Noble; The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler.
I said in my journal entry for one (and it could be said for all three) that I keep reading books about women sharing books and trying to identify with the shared experience, but that each has disappointed. I think it’s because my own bookbrunch group is so compatible and cohesive that nothing else can come close. But I’ll keep seeking these titles, I’m sure. There’s got to be a winner out there somewhere!
I’ve lost track of which ones we’ve read. The Jane Austen Book Club for sure. Then there was that other one with the women in the cul-de-sac – something about BonBons?
Anyway, I really did enjoy this one. Book selection was good.
I was right – Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons – didn’t you read that last year when we did? (or maybe the year before? I think we talked about it with Katie and maybe ghir too…)
Cul-de-sac and bonbons doesn’t sound familiar. Did you know my NaNoWriMo was bout a writers/readers group? Course, I never got beyond the first week, but still …
