The Secret River is a contender. No doubt about it. If it wins the Booker, I won’t complain a bit. It was better than The Night Watch and about 100xs better than Mother’s Milk. Good story, good writing.

I’ve got both of these, guess I’ll hit Secret River and maybe pass on the other. Night Watch was kind of strange–it’s not my favorite Waters book. The descriptions of wartime stuck with me more than the characters.

I’m almost finished with The Night Watch and Secret River is next on the pile on my nightstand. I figure I’ll start it either tonight or tomorrow. Now, I’m glad that it’s the next book waiting for me to crack its cover.
I’m probably not going to get to Mother’s Milk for a while. My library system doesn’t have it.
