I Love Used Books

We’ve just returned from a visit to the Fall Friends of the Library sale. It wasn’t very crowded, which is good in some ways and not so good in others. It was, however, very hot and very loud. Since neither TW or I are feeling well (thank you sassymonkey) neither of us were interested in spending the traditional hour er two hours and instead we were in and out in less than 30 minutes. Maybe we’ll go back tomorrow? Or maybe we’ll go back on 1/2 price day or 10 cent day. Surely we’ll be feeling better soon, won’t we?

You can see the books we bought in the photo (click to make it bigger). 26 books for $27 and of course the change went into the charity jar (they’re raising money this year for a children’s library that was flooded). TW bought a lot of “yellow” and I bought a good bit of “orange”.

  1. I’m being framed.

For the readers who don’t know I’m in Toronto, Canada and Denise is in Florida. I haven’t seen her in person since what…2003? So despite her claims that I’ve made her sick it appears to be a physical impossiblity.

What’s the Jennifer Weiner contributed to? And the one with the seashells on the cover?

  2. Thanks Victor, I hadn’t seen that before.

Sassy – you can send germs through the mail, duh. And the one with Weiner is a Red Dress publication of short stories with all of the big chick lit women. It’s called Girls Night In. The one with shells is The Shell Collector (it’s a Penguin) and is also short stories.

  3. I wasn’t sick when I mailed you that package a MONTH ago. Sheesh. I only got sick after babysitting the wee redhead. Now that she’s going to day camp twice a week she’s a germ incubator. A pretty adorable germ incubator though.

I read one of the Girl’s Night anthologies…I just can’t remember if it’s Girl’s Night In or Girl’s Night Out and I’m too lazy to go look.

  4. Oh, dear! I got my sassymonkey package yesterday. Guess that’s why I’m suffering from crud today, hm?

Now, what to send her? Germs or goodies? I have to admit I’m leaning towards goodies.

  5. Incubation time is what TW is saying, sassymonkey. I got the Girls Night Out for Michelle. So far, she’s avoided adult chick lit but I think this would be a good one for her to pack in her bookbag to read between classes.

LOLOL skeeter. Send her a combination. That’s what she always does. I can’t wait to hear what you think of The Birth House.
