Daily Dose of Stuff – Monday

June_003These are tins.  Lots and lots of tins.  There are more tins in various places around the house.  Far too many to photograph.  I really should put them all in one place and take another photo just so you can see what happens when I say I like something.  What happens is TW goes into acquisition overdrive.  No tin was left unacquired, simply because I said I liked tins.  I’ve begun throwing out tins, slowly and quietly.  I am hoping to get rid of some more, a little more quickly and a little less quietly, at a yard sale sometime soon.

Tins.  I like them but I don’t need or want 500 of them, ya know?  Even if it is sweet of her to acquire them for me.  What weirdness do you have in your house?

  1. but they’re so tastefully displayed…you need some bigger flat ones to make a back drop…that would complete your shadow box

  2. I’ve got quite a few tins too, all that were bought for what was in them. I just hate to throw them out though, it seems so wasteful like they ought to be useful for something.

  3. Tastefully displayed, Lee you are a nut.

We like altoids and I wish I could say it’s because we’re lesbians and ummm “use them” a lot in that “special way” but that’s not what has happened, darn it.

Ha Trisha, you are normal. Most of those tins were purchased without anything in them. Simply because they are tins. And yes they should be useful, but they aren’t. Oh sure, one or two are. But not 100. And believe me, I have 100.

    🙂

  4. My weird collection is shoe boxes. With 5 kids, and 3 adults in my house, there are many. I say I’m keeping them for packaging things I sell on eBay, or for christmas boxes for those inevitable oddly-shaped completely unwrappable toys… mostly I’m just obsessed with shoe boxes, and hoarding stuff.

You know, people buy tins like crazy on eBay, meaning 2 things, you’re not alone in your compulsion (haha0 and you could make some cash off that quiet disposal of tins…

  5. Many of those tins did come from ebay, and that’s definitely an option. But I’m too lazy to get to the post office to send the stuff off. I have to work on that.

My mother and my daughter both have a thing for shoe boxes. Luckily we’re a poor family, and my daughter doesn’t have many opportunities to acquire those shoeboxes. My mother, on the other hand, has hundreds.
