Traditionally Built Women ROCK!

I love the No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency books. I really like listening to them on audio more than reading them. I think they’re the perfect audio book. (If you haven’t tried it, check one out from your library on cd or cassette. I bet you’ll like it.)

Blue Shoes and Happiness is my favorite in the series. Feminism! Shoes! Cobras! Ostriches! Diets! Lots and lots of feminism. Heh.

When is the next installment coming out? I don’t want to wait a year (or more? gasp!) for the next one. Get to work Dr McCall Smith!

  1. I just got hold of a copy last week, but I’m so overloaded at the moment I gave it to my trusty sidekick at the library. Maybe I should go hunt down an audio instead…..I think he should quit fooling around with those other silly books and stick with Precious and the rest of the gang.

  2. That is what TW and I think, too! Philosopher’s Club and stupid sausage dogs. Those were really NOT good books.

    Get an audio, Katie!

  3. I just bought the first 2 books in the McCall Smith Series. I gave them to my mom to read first… but I will get them back in July. We are going to read them in order when they came out. Although Blue Shoes and Happiness appeals to me more so than the others. I can’t wait!

  4. You definitely should read them in order – they’re short so it shouldn’t take too long to get to Blue Shoes and Happiness.

I hope you and your mom enjoy them as much as I have (and my mom too actually – she’s the one who gave me the first one!)

  5. I’m ready! It’s circulating amongst my bookbrunch friends and should make it to me soon. Precious is, indeed … precious!

  6. I was finding the series going downhill, but the last book was wonderful… and the first I did on audio. I can’t wait to listen to the new one. I also agree that McCall Smith should stick to Precious & Co. I did not like the Sunday Philosophy Club at all.
