Nature Girl

We started listening to Nature Girl on audio, a couple of weeks ago, and right as we’re about to enter chapter 2, the CD went crazy. Huge, deep gash. Bah! I returned it to the library and reserved the print copy, picked it back up again late last week and another book on my A to Z challenge list is in the can!

You should know I’m not really a Carl Hiaasen fan. I like him well enough but I prefer Chris Moore – it’s the zombie and vampire factor. Since not everyone can include zombies and sequined love nuns in their books, I don’t mind reading the occasional Hiaasen and Nature Girl was a good one. (Though errr, I was always waiting for the zombies to show up. Or a talking fruit bat. Or something.)

I like Honey. I also liked Euginie and Tigertail. Good characters. They should return to another book some day. (I see Tigertail is a relative of an “older” character”. Interesting. I haven’t read enough Hiaasen to have known that.)

Do you want to be blogged?

Britt Bravo recently blogged some great tips to help convince bloggers to blog your cause. Amber jumped in with a comment about someone who sent her a nasty email when she didn’t blog about his product. (and I teased her about being patient because BlogHer was in the process of blogging about a topic that she really wanted blogged)

And I thought that was the end of me thinking about how to get people to blog about you. Or how you’re treated when you do blog someone after they’ve sent you a link and a link to a press release. Nope that wasn’t the end, it was only the beginning…

Do not send “me” a link to a new blog and a press release about the new blog and then, after “I’ve” blogged it, email me because I did not mention the relationship of the blogger to the company she’s now blogging for. I don’t really care about the company she’s blogging for – I care about the blogger and the topic she’s blogging about. Period. If that isn’t enough for you… go ask someone else to blog you.

(updated to say that my grouchy post has absolutely nothing to do with Amber, it was just a coincidence that Britt blogged the topic, Amber and I sort of discussed it and then… )
