Waiting for the mailman, the UPS dude and the FedEx chick

I just realized Christmas is a week away and some stuff that has been ordered… has not arrived. How much stuff hasn’t arrived? I’m not really sure, exactly. I just know that when I think “hey, that hasn’t come yet”… something else pops into my head that also hasn’t come.

1) One item for Chris
2) One item for Michelle (which might be in the box with Chris’s item but probably not)
3) One item for TW
4) Some stuff I ordered from Etsy for Michelle, TW and errr myself.
5) Something for Prince J which I ordered months ago. I’m thinking it’s not going to show up, which isn’t a huge big deal ’cause it’s just sort of an extra gift from the “dark side” and the “dark side” can be given to the worthy any time of the year, not just at Christmas.
6) Something for B (Jenn’s boyfriend) which is probably ok since we don’t head to Charleston ’til after Christmas, plenty of time for that one to arrive.

Hmmm, what else has not arrived? I’m not sure but I guess I should find out, shouldn’t I?

Upstate

When I was creating my A to Z list, back in January, and looking for a book for the letter “U”, I found Upstate. I’m not sure how I found it, but I did – it might have been on someone else’s A to Z list, it might have been in the NY Times Book pages or blog. No idea how but it is one of the five best books, so far, on my A to Z list.

Get it on audio… it’s worth it for this one.

Agnes & the Hitman

Agnes & the Hitman was hysterical. No, wait. It was HYSTERICAL! I loved it and not just because of the flamingos. Best Jennifer Crusie book so far. I want to be cranky Agnes when I grow up, without the hitman – though he definitely had his charm.

And an OMG I had no idea moment… Jennifer Crusie wrote Coffee at Luke’s. I need that book. Who has not bought my Christmas gift yet? Whoever it is, you can send this – NOW.

Sweet Swan of Avon

Another book I should have read ages ago. It’s been living on my bookshelf since BlogHerCon06, thanks Blogher and Robin! Sorry it took me so long to read but Sweet Swan of Avon was worth waiting for.

I enjoyed it.

But I would since I totally don’t think Shakespeare wrote Shakespeare. I’m not sure Mary Sidney wrote Shakespeare either but it’s a heck of a lot more possible than Shakespeare writing Shakespeare.

The Christmas Meme

Just cause Mata said so.

1.Real tree or artificial or treeless? Any special traditions with the tree?

Well, I would prefer a real tree but TW’s allergic so we have artificial. A new Martha Steward artificial this year. The only special traditions with the tree are to get out of the way when a zillion kids try and decorate it with every single ornament we have, just as fast as they can.

2. Eggnog or Cider or Mulled Wine?

Uh no. Never. Thanks for offering, though.

3. Spiritual or Secular celebration?

Both? Heh.

4. Favorite Christmas music?

Silver Bells. Though the middle schooler playing Good King Wenceslas has been a pleasure this year. I remember when I learned to play it on the piano. I’m guessing I drove my mother a little nuts.

5. One special holiday memory.

Errrr. The year Santa didn’t wrap any gifts when I was like 5? I was sick and grouchy. That was totally special ’cause today I can annoy my mother by whining about that. Heh. Or the year Santa brought Teddy Ruxpin to Jenn, that was awesome. Santa was one cool dude.

Your turn. And if you do it, you should let Mata know.
