Well, well, well! My glee at finding out Michelle already knew about Elexa has been validated by this study. If you want your kids to have safe sex then you have to be a supportive parent. Cool. I can do that.
Now go read Sassymonkey’s post about being supportive of teens.

So it’s been awhile since I didn’t something really stupid, well besides the 3 tiny glasses of wine at Blogher – which really was stupid but that’s an old story that you’re all tired of hearing about. This is bigger and dumber.
Meet the teacher day for the three little children. The elementary school first. I was thinking we got out of there without a scratch and actually about to say such a thing as we were walking through the parking lot to the car. Jinx!
I stepped off the curb and BAM, CRACK, POP went my ankle and I crumbled to the ground. Boy it has been a long time since anything caused me to crumble, and in the past it has usually been my knee. It’s been a good 30 years since I had an ankle problem. I guess I’m over-due?
I handed the keys to TW and limped my way across the parking lot, trying not to black out or vomit. Moms of 5th graders, particularly lesbian moms of 5th graders, really need to try not to vomit in their kids’ school parking lot. It sets a bad tone for the entire school year. So, I was careful and made it to the car.
TW said "home or North Florida?" Ha, "home, duh." I do not do hospitals. They are dirty places and they are expensive and time consuming and there is NO HOT SPOT at the hospital.
So, I am home. With my ankle wrapped and iced. I’ve taken tylenol because I don’t take other people’s medications. I would really like to head to the front porch for what we call "fresh air" but I don’t think that’s a good idea. The walking, I mean. The "fresh air" would do me a world of good, I’m sure.
I’m an idiot, but at least I got out of the second "meet the teacher" event and I didn’t have to go to the grocery store for cat food. The silver lining, always look for the silver lining.
Here’s the follow up – I did go to the ER…

I had planned to participate in the Blogathon this year but it is at the same time as the Blogher conference. I can’t manage to attend and blog for 24 hours at the same time. ๐ I’m going to try and drop by throughout the day (and night) though to keep these bloggers company, and thank them for their efforts. I’m also going to send in a donation. You’re going to send donations, too. It’s the least you can do.
Tricia is blogging for the Crohns & Colitis Foundation. She’s got a good blog and I appreciate her efforts very much.
This one is totally and completely unplanned but it seems like fate so I’ll be sending a donation…. Flamingo Legion is blogging for DFW Cocker Spaniel Rescue. How fate-like is THAT, after all?
Seeworthy is blogging for GLSEN and I always donate to GLESN. You should donate too. Kids are important.
Last but not least, Random Again is blogging for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I’ll be making a donation in honor of Amanda and Eric.
Who are you going to support during Blogathon 2006? You will be showing your support, won’t you?

you like ashley, remember? I talked about that once before, on Blogher I think (but I can’t look for sure because Blogher doesn’t like me this morning). Even if you don’t remember, you do like her and because you like her you should support her during Blogathon 2006 next weekend.
Ashley doesn’t have high speed internet so guess what she’s going to do? She’s going to wander around SLC and use various hot spots to blog her “every 30 minute” blog entries. That’s kind of cool, and interesting – not that you should be supporting someone blogging for charity because they are doing something cool and interesting, unless you’re just shallow that way.
Go on, support Ashley and the American Lung Association. You like Ashley – you like lungs, too.

Blogathon 2006 is just around the corner and I’m pleased to introduce you to Jill! Jill is going to be blogging in the Blogathon for the National Marrow Donor Program in honor of her friend Jennifer.
Go visit her blog. Encourage her in her efforts. Throw her some MONEY. Visit her during the blogathon to show your support. Post a link on your blog to help her efforts. Do whatever you can to help. It’s a worthy cause and Jill deserves your support.

Uh oh.
We’ve known for a long time that tylenol can be problematic and ibuprofen can be even worse but this is really bad news. I take a lot of pain reliever.
OK maybe it isn’t bad news for “long time, daily users”. Wait, am I a long time daily user? If I take 4 a day, everyday, is that bad? Is it better to take a couple of aspirin in the morning and then a couple of tylenol in the evening and then switch it up the next day with a couple of advil in the morning and then aspirin in the evening? Rotate my pain relievers? Would that be a better idea?
Oh heck, what difference does it make? My knee hurts, I’m taking a pain reliever – liver problems or no liver problems.

Remember when I was griping about Starbucks and their "The Way I See It" cups #52 and #60? We only get those cups every once in awhile so now I’m here to gripe about one of the new cups. Actually I’m not going to gripe about it, I had been planning to do so but now I can’t. (I don’t think I can even make fun of the cup or wonder aloud about the person who can make the statement on cup #74 with a straight face.)
I can’t gripe about it because I think I almost understand it and I think maybe I am a believer in the wisdom of cup #74…
In a time when even our soil and air might not know the truth, the only solace we can take in decision-making about our inner peace is through honest, organic and sustainable farming.
That makes you want to laugh, doesn’t it? I mean really, who talks that way? The soil and air might not know the truth? Ummm I’m all for pagan earth worthip and treehugging but isn’t that a little much? NO of course not! Because I get it! We picked up our weekly supply of fruit and veggies from a local organic farm group today and it was cool! and fun! and interesting! and we know the truth! Even if the air and soil don’t!
Honest! Organic! Sustainable Farming! Yes! I’m a believer!
I don’t know the name of the person who picks my peas. It’s ok though because I don’t have grandchildren yet – I do, however, know Don’s name and phone number and I’m sure my children feel better because of it.

Last week I sent Luna Pads to Zimbabwe and the next donation I’m sending is to the Fistula Foundation. We hear an awful lot of about female genital mutilation but not so much about menstrual hygiene or fistulas.
Now someone find me an organization that is working on ending unsafe abortions in Africa, please. I’ll happily add it to my charitable contributions list.
