I don’t knit, so why do I have Spin Cycle saved in my Evernote? Probably because the yarn is pretty and the pictures are nice and, well, I don’t know. Why do I have this blog saved?
Here’s another oddity – I don’t do men, in case you hadn’t noticed. But for some reason, I have Twisted Chili saved in my Evernote. Probably because of the vasectomy posts. It’s rare to see a man blog vasectomy, isn’t it? Or maybe I just don’t read many men’s blogs?
Now this one, this one I know about. TW found it yesterday while surfing Osteo blogs for me. Nuns. I like nuns. A lot. No surprise there, eh? Grace-full Thoughts is more than Grace-full. It’s funny. And interesting. And did I mention, it’s written by a nun? Well I guess, she’s actually a monk. But she seems like a nun. And I like nuns! Even is she does seem to have a problem with pasteurization, in fact she’s sort of passionate about this and that doesn’t seem very nun-like. Which I dig, quite a bit. Weston A Price, I have issues with but nuns with passion, that’s all good
Ummm are there any other blogs by nuns? If you are reading a nun blog, could you share the link, please. I don’t want anymore blogs about vasectomy, one is more than enough. But nuns, the more the merrier.

Badger was talking about Betty McDonald last month and both TW and I said “We need to read those!”… I’m not sure why I said such a thing since I am not even a Mrs Piggle Wiggle fan but I have that weird crush on Badger so that probably explains it. Anyway, our library only had The Egg & I, which I immediately reserved.
It arrived a couple of weeks ago and TW read it and laughed all of the way through it. I, however, did not laugh my way through it. I fumbled my way through it. Chuckled every now and then. And kept putting it down and looking longingly at the other stacks of books waiting to be read. It was slow. It wasn’t all that funny. I was annoyed with just about every character. And yet, now that I’m finished with it, I’m finding more to be amused about.
I do know that I will never live on a chicken farm. With a man. Ever.

I made the coffee, TW made breakfast. And she surprised me with my very first "shaped" biscuits. They’re stars! How cutie! I wonder if she’ll make smiely face pancakes tomorrow…

Someone was searching for monkey cupcake toppers so I thought I’d help with that today (besides, I like monkeys – particularly red-headed ones!). It’s hard to find just monkey cupcake toppers. It’s easy to find zoo animal toppers but not a package of just monkeys. So let’s ad-lib a little, ok? Why not use Barrel of Monkeys instead? Buy a barrel (or two) and put one monkey on each cupcake! Then buy the tiny keychain sized version to use as party favors. (You could retrieve the big monkeys from the cupcakes, wash them and give them to the birthday child if you like.)

Michelle Tea – someone I never thought I’d see in person but as TW says, it’s gonna be that kind of year for me. First Michelle Tea tonight at Wild Iris and then Susie Bright at Blogher in July. Pretty darn cool!
Michelle read from her new book, Rose of No Man’s Land, and answered questions. She signed some books and was just very nice to everyone in the room. (Our Michelle is amused because she got her book signed "To Michelle T from Michelle Tea" – it’s the little things in life, isn’t it?) And who knew Michelle Tea was a high school teacher? Can you imagine what that class might be like? Scarey and cool at the same time, don’t you think?

This music post is long overdue but I’ve been busy and distracted. Music is timeless, as is my appreciation for people who introduce awesome music to me. People like Paige Maguire of Miss Domestic and Swoon and Blogher.
The Swimmers – Heaven
Apostle Hustle – 24 Robbers
The Flaming Lips – If I Only Had a Brain
My Morning Jacket – Make it With You (yes a Bread cover!)
Because of Paige, my iRiver is full of fun new music that I’d have never ever thought about downloading. Because of Paige, I’m having trouble getting work done during the day because she is constantly suggesting new music on Swoon and all I want to do is download it. I’ve had to limit my surfing of the Swoon blog to just a few minutes in the morning and my downloading of new music to just a few minutes at night.
Here are a few of my favorites, all found on one of Paige’s blogs!
Paige is awesome. Swoon is awesome. Go download something. Take an open-mind and be sure to blog about what you’ve downloaded. (Besides being a great music blogger, Paige is always looking for bloggers who are writing about music. Get listening and get blogging!)
Thanks Paige.
