Happy Scoble Day errr I mean Happy Birthday

Today is my nephew’s birthday but around here we usually refer to the day as Scoble Day! It’s not that “The Heir to the Throne’s” birthday is not important, it is very important but 2 years ago today Scoble commented on my blog, (in a now very badly formatted due to multiple platform changes post about Patrick and their podcasting fun)! The comment is lost due to multiple platform changes but the memory lives on.

We’re missing “The Heir to the Throne’s” birthday party, again, which is troubling for many reason. This year I’m particularly disappointed since my brother’s best friend is there with his band, performing for the party-goers. I cannot imagine a more interesting party is taking place anywhere in the world. I really hope my mother comes through with good photos and that someone takes some video.

BlogHer Con 07 Photo Scavenger Hunt

Here’s an interesting little game created by the folks at Cool Mom Picks. Very interesting, but possibly too easy. If you’re going to play, come find me – I can probably fill several of those categories for you… I guess it would be cheating for me to tell you that my cell phone is red… or well, I won’t tell you the rest but if you find me I can probably guarantee you a good 50 points (particularly if you find me during a food break…)

Daily Dose of Cupcakes

homesweethome.jpgSince the little kids are returning from their jaunt abroad, today’s cupcakes are “Home Sweet Home” related. I like the silver charms but they colorful house magnets remind me of post it notes and TW has a thing for post it notes. As you may remember, I hate people who say “I heart…” but I guess some people like that stuff so they would probably like these. I am a Wizard of Oz fan and like nothing better than to see TW shudder at the flying monkeys, so I’d go for There’s No Place Like Home keychains, instead.

iMedix: Health Focused Social Network

I got an invite to iMedix today and joined right up. It’s a brand new health focused social network and when I say brand new, I mean it. They’re not even in Beta yet! And for an “alpha release” I was pretty impressed. Some of the functionality isn’t up and running yet (like adding links and adding friends) and in a couple of areas clicking the submit button meant I was trapped in a waiting for a response loop, but that happens to all sites once in awhile.

Right now there are only 9 communities in iMedix but they’re a solid 9 communities:

ADHD
Allergies
Anxiety
Asthma
Cholesterol
Depression
Diabetes
Obesity
Pregnancy

There’s one little feature that I really like about iMedix. I like it so much probably because it was on my “in my dreams” list for the place I used to work. You write a blog post and then you select which community you want your blog post to appear in. So if you belong to Depression, Pregnancy and Diabetes – you send your blog post to the community/communities it applies to. Or you can NOT send your blog post to any community at all – just leave it alone, in your space. Beautiful. I am guessing that when the share a link functionality is up, that it will work the same way. I hope so.

I’ve got 3 invites left, if you want one leave a comment and it’s yours.

No! I don’t want to join a book club!

Once again, a whole week to read a book but it’s not the book’s fault. I really need to figure out this east coast/west coast schedule thing and until I do that, my reading time is going to be pretty limited. Too bad since it means it’s taking me a long time to read a great, fun book like NO! I Don’t Want to Join a Book Club.

That is my idea of old age (and death) – I’m not going to go back to school, or learn a foreign language, or do some weird travel excursions. I’m going to enjoy doing nothing. That’s it. No clubs or volunteer work. When I’m old I want to enjoy being old and feel no guilt for not having time or desire to do what other people think I ought to be doing.

I can barely wait to be 60!
